We blogged about why we chose to use animation.
In May 2015, Jenny, moderated an tweet chat in which tweeters discussed animation as a form of assessment. In this questions discussed included ‘what could be the benefits of using animations in learning and teaching?’, ‘how can animations be used in assessment?’ and ‘what do you think the challenges could be?’ The discussion will give you ideas and explore the experiences of other academics.

We used animation software called GoAnimate and took out a license for us and our students. However, there are lots of tools available out there, manu of which let you have a free account or a free trial. Why not try looking at Explee or PowToon?
As staff we think it’s important to have a go at creating animations yourself.
We used seminars to support students in developing animations and we discuss this process in this video made for the CELT Good Practice Exchange.
Ellie Hannan shares her experience of one of the seminar activities around animating vegetables. We also introduced storyboarding and peer assessment. Some of the resources for students, are useful to explore more around these areas.
After our first semester using this type of assessment we reflected on our experiences and planned changes to make for the next time the unit ran.
